OCHA Situation Report No. 1 Mexico - Hurricane Juliette 25 September 2001

This message is not an official hurricane warning or alert for any country. 1. The National Weather Center in Miami reports that at 1500 GMT, 25 September 2001, the center of hurricane Juliette was located near latitude 16.3 north, longitude 106.7 west, or about 290 miles (470 km) south of Cabo Corrientes. Maximum sustained winds are near 140 mph (220 km/hr) with higher gusts (Juliette is a category 4 Hurricane). 2. Juliette is moving toward the west-northwest at near 10 mph (17 km/hr) and a turn to the north west is expected during the next 24 hours. 3.
