OCHA Situation Report No. 2 Mexico - Hurricane Juliette 26 September 2001

This message is not an official hurricane warning or alert for any country. 1. The National Weather Center in Miami reports that at 1500 GMT, 26 September 2001, the center of hurricane Juliette was located near latitude 18.6 north, longitude 109.3 west, or about 295 miles (475 km) south of Cabo San Lucas. Maximum sustained winds are near 135 mph (215 km/hr) with higher gusts (Juliette remains a category 4 Hurricane). 2. Juliette is moving toward the northwest at near 9 mph (15 km/hr) and this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours. 3. Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Southern Baja California Peninsula from Cabo San Lazaro to Los Burros. 4.
