OCHA Situation Report No. 1 Colombia - Rains 5 June 2002

Situation 1. According to the Direccion General para la Prevencion y Atencion de Desastres (DGPAD) and the Colombian Red Cross, heavy rains are affecting some 73,000 people in 18 of the country's 32 departments. 15 people dead, 13 people injured and 13 people missing. 2. The Yellow alert is in force for almost all of the Colombian territory. National Response 3. All regional and local committees have been activated to ensure rapid emergency response. Seven corregimientos (rural communities) in the department of Cauca have been declared at high risk of landslides. 4. The Government of Colombia has not requested international assistance. 5.
