In Mansehra, IOM have transported a total of 14,370 IDPs from spontaneous camps and host families since 21st March. In Islamabad, the camps Fateh Jang and Rawal Town are empty now. For Muzaffarabad, the residual caseload is now estimated to be 30,000 IDPs which is 25% of the displaced population. In addition to this group, there are around 20,000-30,000 resident living in 17 high risk villages that needs to be relocated. The following six camps have been identified for the residual caseload: Interloop, Dawn, Thuri Park Mera Tanolia, Malik Pura Piro Ka Bagh and Tariq Abad. Additional CMO Commissioner for Bagh (from Mzd, AJK), CMO Manager Bagh and UNHCR agreed that one residual camp is enough for the potential residual caseload which is estimated to be 150 families, at the most. Mang Bajri planned camp, an unused contingency camp for 250 families, has been identified as the most suitable residual camp. The remaining challenge is the landowners' concurrence for the use of their property. CMO Bagh is still negotiating with the landowners and will offer them new rent rates. - An inter-agency joint assessment mission to Azad Bara has been organized. The principal objective of the mission is to assess first hand the conditions for return of IDPs and look into the urgent needs of the area. The team will be composed mainly of national staff members of UN agencies, designated military guides and selected local residents coming from IDP camps in Bagh. Military authorities, particularly 6 AK Bde, sounded positive on the request. Formal feedback is expected by early next week. Mansehra - Preparation of transitional sites; Maera, Kashtra and Siran Sialkot - Departure monitoring of -50 Spontaneous Camp and Host Family populations - Development of an official referral policy and criteria to access transitional camps - Handover of camp management responsibilities from the Army to the Civil Authorities - Constraints Survey - Returns from -50 spontaneous camps and host family populations - Balakot high seismic risk zone. Muzaffarabad - During the reporting period 545 families have returned to their areas of origin. - As of 5 May around 53% of the total IDP population has returned. - According to CMO an estimated 1000 IDP families or less remain to be moved back to their areas of origin. - The residual caseload is now estimated to be 30,000 people consisting of landless, vulnerable and urban locals from Muzaffarabad town. In addition to this group, there around 20,000-30,000 resident living in 17 high risk villages that needs to be evacuated and relocated to safe areas/camps in Muzaffarabad. - 6 camps have been identified for the residual caseload (Interloop, Dawn, Thuri Park Mera Tanolia, Malik Pura Piro Ka Bagh and Tariq Abad. According to CMO these 6 camps will not be sufficient to accommodate the total residual population. - Some type of summarization is urgently required in the camps as the temperatures are increasing day by day. Note: (1) For Mansehra camps with less than 50 tents are not included. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Appropriate Donations for International Disaster/Humanitarian Needs - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Center for International web: www.cidi.org Disaster Information listserv: www.cidi.org/listsub.htm guidelines: www.cidi.org/donate.htm - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - South Asia Earthquake www.cidi.org/incident/sasia-05j
