The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, US, and Constella Futures, a
US-based research organisation, have been awarded contracts to implement

International HIV/AIDS Alliance
This collection of case studies presents experiences and lessons from a
range of different projects working with men in countries like Botswana,
Morocco, South Africa, and Zambia. The case studies describe not only
HIV/AIDS projects but also other male-focused programmes addressing
issues such as gender identity, sexuality, and violence.

2. Strengthening our accountability to PLHIV, AIDS 2008, 5 August -

The workshop will provide an interactive platform for highlighting
evidence-based good practice and discussing the issues, obstacles and
ways of successfully involving people living with HIV/AIDS in the
response.

VACANCIES
1. HIV/Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) technical specialist,
International Medical Corps (IMC) - Chad
Responsibilities:
- Develop appropriate training materials, including those for radio, to
address gaps in HIV/AIDS awareness among refugees in eastern Chad
- Develop home-based care kits for outreach workers and a psychosocial
counselling framework for those affected by HIV/AIDS
- Monitor programme progress and impact, ensuring outreach workers
collect and maintain relevant data for reporting and evaluation purposes
- Cultivate key stakeholders, including non-governmental organisations,
to provide complementary services to target populations by attending
relevant meetings, conferences, and professional workshops
Requirements:
- Masters in Public Health, MD preferred, with considerable experience
working with youth, HIV-positive people, vulnerable children and others
affected by HIV/AIDS
- Four years or more experience in community health service-related
activities, with two years in management
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis software, including SPSS and
StatPro
- Fluency in written and spoken French and English required
- Must work independently under difficult conditions

2. Country coordinator, UNAIDS - Djibouti
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic guidance for a scaled-up national
response
- Advocate with national and international partners - government, civil
society, bilateral and multilateral - for an expanded response to AIDS
on issues relevant to the national situation
- Facilitate the development and application of a Joint UN advocacy
strategy and plan
- Ensure the collation, dissemination and use of strategic information
to guide public policy, support the UNs advocacy efforts, and inform
technically and ethically sound policies
- Promote the development and consolidation of monitoring and evaluation
systems
- Facilitate tracking of resources allocated to HIV-related activities
and monitor resource gaps
- Identify and monitor capacity gaps and mobilise technical, financial
and institutional resources in response
Requirements
- Advanced degree in development economics, social or physical sciences,
public health, public administration, management, or similar academic
preparation
- Knowledge of development issues and of the application of research
findings to meet developing countries requirements
- Eleven to 15 years experience in managing and implementing development
cooperation programmes, including field experience with demonstrated
achievements in developing countries
- Experience working within the UN system organisations in technical
programmes, or in public health at international level is required
- Advanced knowledge of English and French, both oral and written
