The Humanitarian Update (HU) aims at providing a periodic analysis of 
current humanitarian issues, facts and policy developments in Timor-Leste 
with primary attention given to internally displaced people (IDPs). The HU 
is based on voluntary information inputs from UN Agencies, Funds and 
Programmes, NGO members of the Humanitarian Coordination Committee and 
other partners. It analyses information from a variety of sector 
coordination meetings involving Timorese authorities. The HU is 
coordinated and issued by the OCHA/UNMIT Integrated Humanitarian 
Coordination Team (IHCT), on a fortnightly basis. Contributions and

OF NOTE

- Camp Movements: Movement commenced out of Airport IDP Camp on 6 August, 
and out of Seminario Minor Balide on 14 August. See page 3 for further 
details.

- Rice Donation: During a ceremony on 7 August, His Excellency the 
Ambassador of Japan formally handed over a first instalment of a donation 
of 1,860 tonnes of rice from the People of Japan to the Government of 
Timor-Leste. The rice donation will be channelled through the World Food 
Programme (WFP) and will support their School Feeding Programme.

- The United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF): The UNDAF 
for 2009 ? 2013 was signed by the Government of Timor-Leste and the UNMIT 
in Dili on 8 August. The programmes, which total approximately US$ 314 
million, aim to provide basic social services, to provide schools, 
health-care and security for the people of Timor-Leste and prioritises 
programmes that will contribute towards building state institutions such 
as the courts, Government ministries and local administration.

- On 19 August, the UN Security Council will discuss the UN 
Secretary-General Report on the United Nations Integrated Mission in 
Timor-Leste, as well as the general situation in the country. The UN
