Thousands of civilians in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo's North
Kivu province, many of them repeatedly displaced have been forced to
flee again amid heavy clashes between government forces and troops loyal
to renegade Gen Laurent Nkunda a medical charity has said.
"Everyone in the villages of Katsiro, Kasoko and Nyanzale have fled
north. In the space of three days, the 250,000 displaced people who
lived in camps on the road between Katsiro and Butare have left, as have
the villagers in this area," Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), said on its
website.

CONGO: Government urged to curb domestic petrol storage
Although there are plenty of petrol stations in the capital of the
Republic of Congo, a growing number of Brazzaville residents are selling
fuel from stocks kept at home.
"This is an increasing problem and should be forcefully denounced
because it frequently causes damage and human casualties," said
Dieudonne Moussala, the head of the Congolese Consumers' Association
(ACC).
Since the start of 2008, the ACC has recorded at least 10 accidents in
Brazzaville involving domestic fuel stores. In some cases lives were
lost.

KENYA: Acute diarrhea kills seven, 94 affected
At least seven people have died and 94 been affected following an
outbreak of acute watery diarrhoea (AWD) in the neighbouring districts
of Bungoma West, Mt. Elgon and Teso in the Western Province of Kenya, a
senior health official said.
"A sample taken from one of the affected people in Teso tested positive
for cholera," Shahnaaz Sharif, the senior deputy director of medical
services, said. The outbreak has been attributed to the contamination of
the Malakisi River which provides water for residents in the three
districts.

Months after the Kenyan government began resettling hundreds of
thousands of people displaced during clashes that followed the December

harsh conditions in Rift Valley province.

Molo," said Irene Mureithi, executive director of the Child Welfare
